Ducks, Dogs, and Decoys: That's Why They Call It
Hunting DVD By Mike Bard After last years review of Ducks, Dogs, and Decoys: Coast to Coast and several hours on the couch late at night getting my off season fix by watching waterfowl hunting DVDs this spring, we've decided to continue to review waterfowl hunting DVDs. We of course, still aren't professional film critics by any means, but we'd like to keep sharing our thoughts with you on what we like and dislike about the DVDs we watch.
Ducks, Dogs, And Decoys' fourth DVD release "That's Why They Call It Hunting" came out in the spring of 2010 and is based on the 2009-2010 waterfowl season. This DVD set's format and music selection are very similar to previous releases in this series. Again the focus continues to be around all aspects of the hunt and not just the kills. Jeff provides some excellent carving tips and instruction between hunts with additional hunting tips provided by guide Bill Saiff III and call tuning tips by George Lynch. One new feature to this year's DVD set is a couple more regular faces on the hunts with the addition of the "Pit Crew." Like many waterfowlers, the D3 crew experienced a tough
season, thus the DVD's title "That's Why They Call It Hunting." Many of their
hunts were slower than they would have liked them to be I'm sure, but they
bring the viewer the reality of hunting.
Jeff and crew get around on this DVD and hunt the East Coast, Central
Canada and Island X off the coast of Alaska for King Eider. I have to admit that the trip to Island X was
my favorite part of the DVD set and most of the 4th DVD is devoted
to this trip. Not only does the viewer
get to see what the hunting there is like, but Jeff takes you aboard some of
the fishing boats in port unloading their catch a trip most of us will never
be able to experience firsthand. Value continues to be big with the Ducks, Dogs and Decoys series with "That's Why They Call It Hunting" as this set features 4 full length DVDs at the price of $19.99 MSRP. If you enjoy everything that goes into the waterfowling lifestyle, you like this DVD.
