ThermaCELL® Mosquito Repellent: Appliance & Holster By Mike Bard
Anyone who spends time outdoors in the spring or summer months knows about mosquitoes and how annoying they can be. I’ve tried several different types of sprays and lotions over the years, but many run off when you sweat or just don’t seem to work well. Not to mention that you smell like mosquito repellent and your skin is always greasy from them. This spring I purchased a ThermaCell® appliance with a holster and have used it for turkey hunting, fishing and dog training with excellent results – no bites. It creates an invisible shield 15 feet around you that deters mosquitoes and black flies. The unit runs off a small butane cartridge that is used to create heat and warm a mat that holds the actual repellent. Once the mat is heated it releases a vapor into the air that wards off mosquitoes and black flies. The holster attaches nicely to your belt or vest, as well as, allows you to store extra butane cartridges and repellent mats.
The cost of this unit and supplies you’ll continually need to re-purchase does exceed that of sprays, but in my opinion the extra cost is worth it.
